Twelve Months of Music: October

Peckham Rye, October 12th, pissing with rain, 7 am, waiting for the bus, or late 1970s Manchester estates, or a shelled out post apocalyptic New York perhaps, of concrete blue. Such is the atmosphere for October’s playlist…

  1. When I Have Left this Mortal Coil Chris Knox
  2. Trouble Every Day Frank Zappa & The Mothers of Invention
  3. The 15th Wire
  4. Você Não Serve Prá Mim Roberto Carlos
  5. I Heard It Through the Grapevine The Slits
  6. North by North The Bats
  7. Stay Hungry (live) Talking Heads
  8. Waiting for the Man David Bowie
  9. The Ghost Burning Spear
  10. Ghost Town The Specials
  11. High Tension Wire The Fall
  12. Halleluhwah Can

I recommend Eat That Question: Frank Zappa in His Own Words for some good sense. I can’t say I rate Zappa that much as a musician and, like most modern artists, he totally lost his power to produce art, but he was splendidly articulate. Take a look at this teevee interview in which he talks about schools. Good to show in schools, I have found.
